In recent years, there's been a growing trend towards adopting a healthier lifestyle, with cycling becoming a popular choice among urban residents. Initiatives such as the KL Car Free Morning provide a safe and car-free environment for the community to enjoy cycling, walking, and other physical activities. Held twice a month, KL Car Free Morning encourages city dwellers to embrace a more active lifestyle, promoting healthy living across the community while reducing their carbon footprint.
Recognising the benefits of cycling, Rapid KL has implemented several measures in support of this trend, which is to allow commuters to bring their bicycles on board the trains. Both non-foldable and foldable bicycles, as well as scooters, are permitted on board the trains, particularly during off-peak hours.
This initiative makes it easier for cyclists to commute without the hassle of traffic, integrating cycling into their routines seamlessly. Commuters must follow the general guidelines set by Rapid KL to ensure a smooth and safe experience for all passengers.
In addition to this, Prasarana also has its own cycling community known as the Prasarana Cycling Club which was established in 2015 and currently has over 112 registered members. The club organises regular activities and participates in external competitions, aiming to elevate the club's name and produce respected professional cyclists. Moreover, it highlights the significant benefits of a healthy lifestyle in improving work performance and productivity among its members.
By embracing cycling and supporting the cyclist community, Rapid KL is leading the way towards a more sustainable environment. Through this initiative, Rapid KL aims to shape a future of healthy lifestyles and green mobility of public transportation.
